‘One of the biggest signings in TNA history’ teased for Hard to Kill

TNA’s X

Impact Wrestling will rebrand itself next month, returning to its roots and once again going by TNA. Its a move the promotion’s president Scott D’Amore has heralded as game-changing, and since it was announced Impact/TNA has been re-signing its top stars, locking up free agents, and making moves like revamping their streaming service.

Some of those moves have involved bringing in big names like Kazuchika Okada and Will Ospreay for January shows in Las Vegas that will be the first under the TNA banner since 2017. But it sounds like there will be another wrestler introduced that weekend. D’Amore told Busted Open today (Dec. 18) they’re close to inking a deal he compared to the company’s signing of Kurt Angle and Christian Cage back in the aughts:

“… we are right there at the goal line of finalizing one of, I think, one of the biggest signings in TNA. I think it’s something that is really going to shake things up on January 13. If you’ve been saying, ‘I’m looking for something different.’ We’re giving you a lot. Someone we have in store for you that night is going to blow your socks off.”

TNA quickly started promoting Jan. 13’s Hard to Kill event off that quote:

Perhaps there’s a clue in the tweet, as Worlds Collide was a show NXT ran featuring the United Kingdom and United States-based branches of that WWE brand. TNA recently announced the signing of Trent Seven, who was a big part of NXT UK. Not sure there’s anyone else from the show floating around who would merit this level of hype, though.

You know who would, though? Maybe it’s just the recent rumor that AEW is no longer making plans for her, but Mercedes Moné showing up for even a brief run with her friend & tag partner Trinity would fit the bill. TNA’s relationship with New Japan also could allow the former Sasha Banks to fulfill her dates with NJPW & Stardom.

If that’s too long a shot for you, you could look to the list of names released by WWE back in September. Would Nic “Dolph Ziggler” Nemeth knock your socks off?

While you mull over the possibilities, we’ll note that TNA also made a couple other more concrete announcements today. They have a new action figure partner…

… and they’ve named Josh Alexander’s wife Jade Chung their new ring announcer:

Do these moves make you want to “cross the line” and join the TNA-rmy?
