Where do the Denver Broncos go from here?
That’s the question facing this franchise heading into an offseason that has it missing the playoffs for the eighth straight year. And the seventh losing season.
That’s almost a full decade of suck. Yikes.
Whether the Broncos are headed in the right direction, I have no idea. Denver did win three more games under Sean Payton with basically the exact same roster that got Nathaniel Hackett fired. So there’s that. And there was some excitement in the middle of the season.
However, yet again the Broncos failed to make the playoffs or get a winning record.
It’ll be interesting to see the approach Denver takes this offseason. Namely what it does at quarterback … with Russell Wilson, and then potentially finding a replacement via either free agency or the NFL Draft. Nothing else matters for this franchise, and it needs to do everything it can to solve this problem.
From there, what moves does the organization make with other players on the roster and other possible additions? Not to mention the coaching staff, namely the defensive coordinator.
It’s going to be interesting to see what Payton and owner Greg Penner do this offseason.
But watching the playoffs without the Broncos involved is old, and it needs to change.
