Caitlin Clark’s selection by the Indiana Fever has only added to the excitement that is Indiana sports. The Colts will look to continue that momentum.

Indiana sports has some monster athletes. From Zach Edey at Purdue towering over the competition and taking his team to the championship game to Tyrese Haliburton setting the franchise assists record and taking the Pacers back to the NBA playoffs, Indiana basketball is back on the map. Add last night’s excitement with Caitlin Clark being selected first overall by the Indiana Fever, and the state of Indiana basketball hasn’t shone this bright in a long time. Not to be out done, however, the Indianapolis Colts have their own superstar waiting in the wings to lead his team to greatness.

Caitlin Clark has taken the nation by storm from her uber competitive nature to her “you can’t see me” taunt. She has elevated women’s basketball at the college level to unpredicted heights. She is now looking to do the same in the professional ranks as Fever ticket prices are skyrocketing, not only at Gainbridge Fieldhouse but also at every away stadium the Fever will travel to. Almost all sizes of her jersey sold out in an hour after it was released. While you never know how a career is going to turn out, Clark is definitely on the path to a generational talent.

The Colts are confident they have a once in a lifetime talent on their roster as well in Anthony Richardson. Scoring a perfect 10 on his RAS makes him a physical freak. His combination of athleticism, strength, and speed make him the perfect player to take a risk on and to build your team around. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see Richardson complete the season, but we saw enough to know that if he can tap into his full potential, the rest of the league is in serious trouble. Health is the only thing that can stop him at this point. Stay on the field and Richardson has a chance to do some serious work as a Colt.

How exciting are sports in Indiana right now? Of course, all teams aren’t perfect and some will have to reload, but the Colts are right in the thick of pure giddiness when looking towards the future. The offseason left a little to be desired, but the team has still made some good decisions by re-signing and extending several key players. The draft is always a time for excitement as the Colts will continue to improve the roster. A healthy Richardson will be back and will lead the charge in 2024, but in the meantime, enjoy some Indiana basketball because it is also back in a big way.
