SmackDown again posted strong numbers for WrestleMania fallout episode

After the last SmackDown before WrestleMania XL did huge numbers, it’s not terribly surprising the April 12 episode saw week-to-week drops.

Those drops were minimal, however. Last Friday’s ‘Mania fallout show was watched by 2,499,000 viewers, just 4% less than the April 5 edition. SmackDown’s latest 18-49 year old rating of .76 was just 1% off the previous week’s best-since-last-August high.

Per Programming Insider, SmackDown was the highest rated show on broadcast television last Friday. The only thing on cable that out-performed in on Friday was ESPN’s afternoon coverage of The Masters, which based on SportsMediaWatch’s numbers was only slightly better than SmackDown in the demo with a .78 rating off 3.7 million total viewers.

Early signs are the Cody Rhodes title reign and continuing Bloodline drama will hold the audience’s interest. We’ll see if they can keep that up this week. In the meantime…

Here’s a rundown of the past year’s worth of SmackDown’s numbers:

* Aired on FS1
** “Best of” clip show
