Gray Zone Warfare Set To Be a Phenomenal Shooter

on

There’s a closed playtest taking place now for Gray Zone Warfare, an in-development, cross-genre shooter from MADFINGER Games. It’s penned as being an extraction shooter mixed with tactical FPS and open-world survival elements, making it one heck of a loaded package. There’s a lot wrapped up in Gray Zone Warfare, which aims to disrupt the extraction shooter genre and change the paradigm, setting a new bar for tactical freedom in the shooter space.

I’ve been playing Gray Zone Warfare as part of the closed playtest, and I’ve been blown away by every core element of the game. There’s a lot to take in, but for anyone familiar with Escape from Tarkov, the learning curve isn’t as steep. It has been a long time since I played such an intense and immersive tactical shooter, and I’m hungry for more.

If this is the future of the extraction shooter genre, I want more – and I want it now. From the moment I stepped into Gray Zone, I was impressed with every core feature of the game. There’s a wide and beautiful open-world environment to explore, a trading system, survival mechanics, realistic combat features, and character customisation. Players can explore the world either with a team or by themselves, and an emphasis has been placed on working together with your faction members to accomplish a variety of goals.

During my playthrough, I had to mark supply caches, locate a crashed helicopter and its crew, scout out some abandoned locations, and kill enemy combatants. I couldn’t find anything wrong with Gray Zone. Fair enough, there were plenty of issues with the game running, but that’s because it’s in an alpha state – hence the closed playtest. When you load up GZW, you’ll be at your home base, and it’s there that you kit up and fly into the open world to do whatever you so desire.

There are no time limits, few borders, and almost no restrictions – you can go wherever you want, and so long as you survive the world and its dangers, you’ll be able to stay in your ‘raid’ for hours.

MADFINGER has hit the nail on the head with Gray Zone Warfare, even at this early stage. There’s a lot of potential wrapped up in the project, and when it enters early access in earnest and becomes a more open game, it’ll generate a monumental buzz. I’ll be lost for what to play next when the closed playtest is over – I’ll be first in line for the next stage.
