Mike McDaniel and the Miami Dolphins really wanted Odell Beckham Jr. in South Florida — at their price.

The Miami Dolphins were forced to pinch pennies for most of free agency but tables turned Friday with the addition of Odell Beckham Jr. Miami reportedly offered Backham two different contracts before the 2024 NFL Draft.

The two sides finally reached an agreement, initially announced as an $8 million deal. However, the Dolphins added Beckham on a one-year $3 million contract that can push towards $8.25 million due to incentives, according to ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques.

Miami welcomed Beckham with open arms and he even developed a relationship with coach Mike McDaniel in recent months. The Dolphins visited with OBJ in March, but players continued campaigning for him to join the team, according to Josina Anderson.

Beckham quickly warmed up to the Dolphins and Miami solidified its receiving group with a veteran presence that can win on the outside. Most importantly — the Dolphins didn’t need to wait for additional cap space on June 1. Many assumed that the Dolphins would have to wait until Xavien Howard’s contract came off the books to improve the roster, but that wasn’t the case.

Let us know what you think — what’s next on Chris Grier’s to-do list once $18 million in salary cap space is cleared? Buid in the trenches? Add another safety? Maybe they should just roll it all into next season?
