MSI Play-in stage – two explosive brackets

MSI 2024 has brought major changes to its format, given that the four major regions have each sent two teams. While the first seeds got direct access to the next stage, the second seeds from the LPL, LCK, LEC, and LCS will all have to fight through the play-in stage. And with teams like Top Esports and T1 in the mix as well, we’re bound to get one of the most action-packed play-in brackets in LoL history.

Right after the LPL Spring Finals which saw BLG reign victorious, the play-in draw show took place. The second seeds from the major regions will have to face the winners from the PCS, VCS, LLA, and CBLOL to determine which four teams will advance.

Bracket A draw result

In the first group, T1 was seeded with Estral Esports (LLA), PSG Talon, and FlyQuest. In the first round, T1 will go up against EST, with PSG and FLY clashing in the second match. Given that it’s a double-elimination bracket, teams will have more than one chance to prove themselves. Among the four, T1 is heavily favored to advance. The question falls on the second team that advances: who will it be?

Bracket B draw result

Given the four teams in bracket A, Top Esports, GAM Esports, Fnatic, and the CBLOL representative will compete in the second bracket. For Fnatic and Top Esports, this is yet another international clash after the two last competed back in the legendary series at Worlds 2020. But before that, Fnatic will have to play against GAM. Will they be able to defeat the VCS team? We’ll have to find out when MSI officially kicks off on May 1 in Chengdu, China.
