Idol Street Fighter 6 Tournament Coming with Hinatazaka

on

Fighting game esports have gotten a lot wider lately, but even with more orgs stepping in there are always new tournaments that are a complete surprise. One of these, is the Idol Street Fighter 6 tournament featuring Hinatazaka 46. Hosted by a major Japanese esports player, this will be a tournament not between pros or even streamers however. It’s a SF 6 tournament played by the members of an idol group.

Japanese Idol group Hinatazaka 46 will be stepping in to play Street Fighter 6 in this new fighting game esports tournament. Although, it won’t be all of the members, in the first week of May, we’ll see a few members of a huge idol group participating in a round-robin format.

They’ll compete against each other to find which of the idols is the best at Street Fighter 6. While this might not be one of those tournaments where we see the best of the best duke it out at the Capcom Cup, it’s definitely a unique take on the game.

Idol Street Fighter 6 Tournament Announced

Haitani is one of the best fighting game players of all time, he’ll be hosting something different from the normal tournaments next month though. The player will be hosting an event between members of an Idol group. Although, it’s only a handful of the members.

Each of those selected will be playing a different character in the game. While it isn’t everyone, there is decent variety in the mains they’re playing. These are the members taking part in the event and who they’ll be playing.

  • Akari Nibu – Ken
  • Haruyo Yamaguchi – Dhalsim
  • Honoka Hirao – Blanka
  • Kumi Sasaki – Chun li
  • Nao Kosaka – Juri

It won’t be everyone from the idol group competing in the Street Fighter 6 tournament. There are 37 total members which is a few too many for that. However, these select few have been chosen to compete in the fighting game, each playing different Street Fighter 6 characters. It’s an event where we can’t really bank too much on past events to tell us about the outcome. Each of these players is fairly untested in the world of competitive gaming!

This will be a really unique event compared to the major clashes of the Capcom Pro Tour. It’ll be fun to see Street Fighter 6 played competitively in such a different kind of event. Plus, you can catch the whole thing on Japan’s Capcom YouTube channel.
