Fallout 76 Hits One Million Player Milestone in a Day

on

Bethesda Game Studios has revealed a stunning milestone for Fallout 76, the post-apocalyptic MMORPG. In a single day, more than one million players were exploring the open-world environment of Fallout 76 at the same time. This is a massive moment for the series, as over time, the legitimacy of this once-beleaguered game is being proven. Since the Fallout TV show was released on April 10, hundreds of thousands of new gamers have found a home in the series that stretches back to 1997.

Fallout is once again one of the most popular franchises in the gaming world. In the last week or two, player counts have skyrocketed on all titles, particularly Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. It’s having an adverse effect in some places, though – Nexus Mods recently confirmed that the slew of people downloading Fallout 4 mods has brought its website to a grinding halt. In general, Fallout is experiencing a boom – but Fallout 76 is sitting at the top of the table in that respect.

Fallout Frenzy

Fallout 76 always had issues proving itself in the wider gaming community. Many still see it as a failed Fallout game, despite more than fifteen million people making their way into the game since it was released in 2018. It has evolved and, thanks to immense investment from Bethesda Game Studios, is now a top-tier MMORPG that’s well worth playing. It’s missing some desirable features, like crossplay, but it’s still a solid game.

There are a few sizeable updates on the horizon for Fallout 76, which will only serve to improve the situation. In a few weeks, Bethesda Game Studios will introduce the first base map expansion ever seen.

On Twitter, Bethesda celebrated the one million player milestone:

On platforms like Steam, the peak player count for Fallout 76 has soared to never-before-seen levels. On streaming and content creation platforms, there’s a buzz around the Fallout series, but Fallout 76 in particular is enjoying a burst of popularity. It recently secured more viewers on Twitch than it had managed to in the last six years. There’s no doubt that Fallout 76 is now getting the respect it deserves, but the buzz will inevitably fade as the Fallout TV show drops down the charts a little.
