Challenge Tour, center stage in Abu Dhabi

The Challenge Tour embarks on a double-header in the United Arab Emirates with two exciting events set in Abu Dhabi. Kicking off the action is the Abu Dhabi Challenge (April 18-21) at the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club, followed by the UAE Challenge (April 25-28) at the Saadiyat Beach Golf Club. The lineup for the first event includes Pietro Bovari, Gregorio De Leo, and Aron Zemmer, with Stefano Mazzoli and Filippo Celli joining the fray for the second leg.

The Abu Dhabi Challenge field boasts the top ten players from the Road To Mallorca rankings, including the six seasonal winners leading the charge. Mikael Lindberg of Sweden leads the pack, followed by Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen from Denmark, Rhys Enoch from Wales, John Parry from England, David Ravetto from France, and Bjorn Akesson from Sweden. Rounding out the top ten are Martin Couvra from France and Englishmen Sam Hutsby, Chris Paisley, and Lee Slattery.

Among the favorites are Australian Hayden Hopewell, Englishmen Jack Senior and Ashley Chesters, German Maximilian Schmitt, South Africans Deon Germishuys, Justin Walters, and Wilco Nienaber, local player Joshua Grenville-Wood, and Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts, a vice-captain of the victorious Team Europe at the Ryder Cup in Rome.

Seeking to reclaim their former glory on the DP World Tour are Frenchmen Alexander Levy (with five titles) and Gregory Bourdy (with four), as well as Spaniards Alvaro Quiros (with eight) and Alejandro Cañizares (with two).

Among the Italians, Bovari is competing in his ninth event of the season, including three on the major circuit, while De Leo and Zemmer are in their sixth, with Zemmer notably securing a commendable 12th place finish in the Delhi Challenge. The total prize purse stands at $300,000 (approximately €275,000). As the Challenge Tour unfolds against the stunning backdrop of Abu Dhabi, fans brace themselves for an exhilarating showcase of talent and skill on the greens.
