Trick Williams wins the NXT championship

on

The Mad Dragon has been slain.

NXT went all out for the first week of its “Spring Breakin’” special episode of television, with multiple main roster wrestlers coming back to the promotion they once called home to take in the main event of the evening. The Creed Brothers, New Catch Republic, and Johnny Gargano were all on the scene to more or less cheer Trick Williams on for his big championship match against Ilja Dragunov.

This match was only made on account of Trick accepting a special stipulation — if he loses, he has to leave NXT forever. Dragunov, meanwhile, already declared himself eligible for the upcoming WWE Draft. Was all of this a spoiler of sorts, a way to get us prepared for a big title change to close the show?

Well, you read the title, so you already know.

Trick Williams did indeed slay the mad dragon to become the new NXT champion.

The match wasn’t all that long but it was great fun in front of a hot crowd at the Performance Center. There was a spot that went wrong that could have been disaster for Dragunov but he ended up okay and worked the rest of the match just fine. His H Bomb wasn’t enough to take down Trick this time, but the Trick Shot was enough to take him down.

After, he presented the title to Trick himself, endorsing him on the way out.

Williams celebrated with the fans as the show went off the air. The party is on.
