“He looks good,” says Sean McVay of Rams second-year QB Stetson Bennett

Stetson Bennett has to be one of the most talked about players in Rams history as far as fourth round picks who haven’t played in any games so far. That’s probably because he’s a quarterback and a two-time national champion, but Bennett’s return to the Rams since missing virtually all of 2023 on the NFI list has been well documented and the debate rages on as far as whether or not L.A. should draft a replacement this week.

One person who has been with the L.A. Rams for the entire offseason program who likely doesn’t want them to do that is Stetson Bennett. Head coach Sean McVay addressed Bennett’s return to offseason programs on Tuesday, telling reporters that “He looks good” and “He’s had a good look in his eyes, he’s been attentive in meetings,” per ESPN’s Sarah Barshop.

It’s notable that the first thing McVay wants to say about Bennett is that “he’s been attentive in meetings” as it implies that he wasn’t attentive last year.

Few quarterbacks come into the NFL with a better situation than Bennett as he got to go to a team that recently won the Super Bowl and even the starting quarterback went to the same Georgia football program as he did. All Bennett had to do was sit, learn, and listen. It seems as though the listening part might have been an issue and then he had a shaky preseason prior to eventually being replaced as the backup by Brett Rypien, then Carson Wentz, and now Jimmy Garoppolo.

But Bennett is in the building.
