Packers Reacts Results: Green Bay fans split on position for pick #25

50 percent of fans responded that they believe the team will use their first-round pick on an offensive lineman, but 40 percent said it will be a defensive back.

Earlier this week, as asked you which position the Packers will be taking with their first-round pick. As we noted, there aren’t many prospects who warrant being in the conversation at #25 at Green Bay’s two biggest positions of need: off-ball linebacker and safety.

With that being said, let’s get into the results from our poll.

Exactly half of you think that the Packers are going to take an offensive lineman in the first round of the draft next week. Coming in right behind offensive linemen, though, is defensive backs with 40 percent of the vote.

Based on our recent polling on potential Green Bay first-round picks, I would guess that many people who voted for the defensive back position had Iowa’s Cooper DeJean in mind. When we asked which player you thought that the Packers would pick out of realistic prospects who could be on the board at #25, DeJean received 40 percent of the overall vote — three times as much as any other player.

With DeJean excluded from the options in our second poll of the set, three of the top four vote receivers — all of the prospects who received more than five percent of the vote — were offensive linemen. The top two players, who received a combined 50 percent of the vote, were also offensive linemen.

I guess I have two follow-up questions for those of you who chose a position other than offensive linemen in this week’s Packers Reacts:

1. If you chose defensive back, is it DeJean or bust? Is he the player that you’re highlighting?
2. If you chose other, do you think it’s a position like edge rusher where the Packers find value or do you believe the team will just simply try to swing early on a position like linebacker — which would surprise most first-round mockers?
