Yet another official pre-draft visitor (and yet another safety) ends up as a Packers draft pick.

The Green Bay Packers did not end up making back-to-back draft picks late in the 5th round of the 2024 NFL Draft, having traded up from pick number 168 to select Duke offensive lineman Jacob Monk. However, they did still have two picks in quick succession, as they stayed on the clock with the 169th selection just a few minutes after that pick.

With that choice, the Packers have drafted safety Kitan Oladapo out of Oregon State University.

Oladapo and the Packers have been closely connected throughout the entire pre-draft process. He took an official pre-draft visit to Green Bay, and the Packers have a connection to the Beavers on their coaching staff — defensive QC coach Anthony Perkins was Oregon State’s cornerbacks coach for the past two years.

A bigger safety prospect at 6-foot-2 and 216 pounds, Oladapo tested out relatively well at the Combine:

Based on that frame, Oladapo seems to project more as a box safety in the NFL. In three years as a starter, he recorded at least 69 total tackles each season, adding a total of 15 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks in his career. He also accounted for three interceptions and 23 pass breakups.

The Packers have now drafted three players who took official visits to Green Bay so far this year, with Oladapo joining day-two linebacker picks Edgerrin Cooper and Ty’Ron Hopper. Additionally, Oladapo becomes the Packers’ third safety of this draft class, joining Georgia’s Javon Bullard (round two) and Oregon’s Evan Williams (round four).

Green Bay now has three picks remaining in the 2024 NFL Draft, one in round six (#202) and a pair of 7th round picks at 245 and 255.
