Gabe Kidd ethers AEW while promoting New Japan event

The English sensation also took a shot at WWE.

Add Gabe Kidd to the list of names that continue to kick All Elite Wrestling while it’s seemingly down.

Appearing on KCAL News for CBS News in Los Angeles, Kidd was promoting New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Resurgence happening this Saturday in Ontario, CA. In a clip that’s beginning to go viral, Kidd — like CM Punk and Bill Goldberg, among others — took a nasty shot at AEW and its fans while extolling the virtues of New Japan’s product.

“I’ll put it in very simple terms,” Kidd began. “You like theatre? Go and watch WWE. If you’re a fat nerd, you can’t talk to girls, go and watch AEW. But if you want to watch the real stuff, New Japan Pro Wrestling, this where it at.”

While Kidd also took a jab at WWE, it was considerably light compared to his take on AEW. Then again, that’s likely not a coincidence.

At Resurgence, Kidd will challenge AEW and Ring of Honor star Eddie Kingston for the STRONG Openweight Championship in a No Rope Last Man Standing Match. The two met this past January at NJPW’s Battle in the Valley for what was then the Triple Crown Championship (Strong Openweight Championship, ROH World Championship, and the AEW Continental Championship). However, their match ended in a double count-out.

Their rematch in Ontario will almost assuredly produce a definitive winner. With AEW’s Forbidden Door event approaching, a victory by Kidd could secure him a spot on the show. Excluding him would be a missed opportunity, considering his comments about AEW and its fans, which would likely generate a highly charged atmosphere.
