Marion Bartoli tells Caroline Garcia she is available as coach for clay season

Marion Bartoli has made herself available to Caroline Garcia in case the top-ranked Frenchwoman wants to hire her as a new coach for the upcoming clay season.

In late 2022, Garcia stunningly split with coach Bertrand Perret, who helped her rediscover her best tennis and become a top player again.

At the time, there were reports indicating that it wasn’t a happy split.

Then last week – after Garcia suffered a surprise 6-2 6-3 defeat to Sorana Cirstea in her Miami opener – strength and conditioning coach Laure Legoupil announced that she decided to stop working with the Frenchwoman.

Bartoli makes herself available to Garcia

“I would happily train Caroline Garcia all the way to Roland‐Garros. There is no problem. She had been playing so well since Roland-Garros last year when she won the doubles with Kristina Mladenovic. She won a lot of matches. I told myself that everything was in place, finally. She was able to react to changes in the surface, to different conditions. She played well everywhere. Normally when a player has figured out what works, even changing coaches, she is able to repeat it with other people. I think there is also a mental backlash. She has a new status, no points to defend, everything to gain. She put more pressure on herself by saying to herself, ‘It’s now or never’,” Bartoli said on the Bartoli Time podcast, per Sportskeeda

After a very strong and successful part of the 2022 season, Garcia didn’t hide that her goal for the start of the 2023 season was to become a Grand Slam champion and also attack the world No 1 spot.

But Garcia’s form hasn’t been that impressive in early 2023.

At the Australian Open, Garcia made the round-of-16 before suffering a surprise defeat to Magda Linette.

Garcia did finish as runner-up in Lyon and Monterrey but she hasn’t been doing particularly well on the biggest stage so far in 2023.
