Dominik Mysterio: ‘No surgery for this guy’

Hours after a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claimed he would be getting so-called Tommy John surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow, Dominik Mysterio posted this to X/Twitter:

The Wolf of Wall Street meme jives with Meltzer’s report, which said Mysterio would remain on WWE television while his injury heals. The message above it is a direct refutation of what was in the latest Observer Newsletter, though.

Trying to break news in an industry built on misleading its audience is a tricky proposition, and Meltzer isn’t the only pro wrestling journalist who gets worked or falls victim to changing plans (see also: Fightful’s story on Adam Cole being off the road because rehab on his surgically repaired ankle wasn’t going well hitting days before Cole working — and walking — at Dynasty and Dynamite, or PWInsider updating their report on Jacob Fatu’s debut). Meltzer has had a target painted on him for a while though due to his perceived bias toward AEW and The Young Bucks — especially after CM Punk called him out for it during his tumultuous time at that company, and his critics are going to have a field day with this one.

And outside all of that insider/internet talk, provided the UCL portion of the Observer’s report is correct, there are non-surgical ways to rehab that injury. It sounds like Mysterio may be opting to go that route, which would be good news for him and WWE.
