Kenny Omega’s ‘important announcement’ didn’t move the needle for AEW

The ratings and viewership data are in for this week’s (May 8) episode of AEW Dynamite.

Per Wrestlenomics, Dynamite netted 711,000 viewers and a 0.24 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic. That was good enough for a 6th place finish on cable for the night in the key demo, with Dynamite only trailing NHL and NBA playoff games and coverage.

These numbers are nearly identical to last week’s 703K and 0.24, respectively.

This Dynamite lineup was on the weaker side in terms of pre-show hype, with the most interesting hook probably being Kenny Omega’s “important announcement” that turned out to be the Anarchy in the Arena main event match at this month’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view. Overall, it just wasn’t enough to boost Dynamite’s numbers up from the relative low points they’ve dropped to since the end of March. I guess we’ll see if that changes next week for the return of HOOK.

Here’s a breakdown of AEW Dynamite viewership and rating in the 18-49 demo over the last year:
