Jarvis beats top-100 Chinese player

Tom Jarvis picked up a superb 3-0 victory over a top-100 Chinese opponent at the WTT Contender Durban in South Africa today.

Up against the penholder Xue Fei in the last 32, Jarvis (WR 121) turned in a dominant performance and never looked in trouble against an opponent ranked 53 places above him at No 68.

Jarvis will face either China’s Lin Shidong (WR 46) or Kao Cheng-Jui of Chinese Taipei (WR 135) in the last 16 on Friday.

Paul Drinkhall joins the action in the last 32 later today, when he will face top seed and world No 7 Hugo Calderano of Brazil.

Drinkhall and Jarvis are also paired up in doubles, where they have a bye to the quarter-finals, which will be played on Friday.
