The Bengals are reshaping the defensive tackle position, and that continues at pick 97 with the Texas A&M nose tackle.

The Cincinnati Bengals lost DJ Reader in the offseason, and they replaced him with Sheldon Rankins in free agency.

Rankins is a similar tier of player, but very different as more of a pass rusher who is not a great run defender. With that in mind, the Bengals seemed locked in to going nose tackle sometime in the Draft after they failed to add a replacement in free agency.

After T’Vondre Sweat, the depth of the position was very thin, so the Bengals had to take a look at the position at pick 97.

With the 97th pick in the third round, the Bengals select Texas A&M nose tackle McKinnley Jackson.

The Bengals got the guy many ranked as the second-best nose tackle in the class in Jackson. A big body who should be able to play a good amount of snaps in year 1. Jackson is someone who does not offer much in the pass-rush department, but the team needed someone to help with the run game as they already struggled with DJ Reader in 2023. Another early impact player for the Bengals 2024 Draft.
