Don’t rush to judgement on the T’Vondre Sweat pick

Let’s see how this plays out before declaring it a disaster.

The most polarizing pick of the night was when the Tennessee Titans selected T’Vondre Sweat with the 38th pick on Friday night. The concerns surrounding the pick are legitimate. Sweat struggled to stay in shape while in college. That resulted in him spending a lot of time on the sideline instead of on the field during games. That’s a problem.

There is also the fact that he got a DUI less than a month ago. On that front, Ran Carthon said Sweat took his visit here after that happened, and that there were some really tough conversations around that event. Obviously, the team felt comfortable with Sweat after those conversations.

Like I said, I get the concerns, but there were people out here posting crazy videos about how the pick was one of the worst things this franchise has ever done. Let’s pump the brakes on that conversation for a bit. How about we see how he approaches his shot in the NFL before we write him off?

The other thing I was seeing a lot of is that Sweat is a two-down player who has zero upside as a pass rusher. Well, there are plenty of smart people out there who say that is a false narrative. I’m willing to wait and see on that front as well.

Was this an A+ pick? Absolutely not, but let’s give Sweat a chance to prove that he learned from everything that has gone on before we walk off the ledge.
