The Bengals add an instant-impact player at a position of need. Hard to ask for anything more.

Night two of the NFL Draft is underway, as the Cincinnati Bengals look to find a couple more players to add to the rotation.

After going for an offensive tackle in round one in Amarius Mims, the Front Office and Coaching staff decided to address the defensive side of the ball this evening.

With the 49th pick in the second round, the Bengals selected Michigan Wolverines defensive tackle Kris Jenkins.

Jenkins, a 6-foot-3 and 305-pound from Olney (MD), helps fill an immediate need for the Bengals on the interior portion of their D-line.

Jenkins had a solid junior season in Ann Harbor, as he finished the year with 37 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and an interception. His sophomore tackle numbers really jump off the page, however, as he rallied 54 total tackles for the Wolverines.

A solid run-stuffer who has shown some flashes of disruption in the passing game, Jenkins will hopefully bring some push up the middle to compliment Trey Hendrickson and Sam Hubbard on the outside.

With their first two picks of this year’s NFL Draft, the Bengals have seemingly filled two very big question marks. Jenkins definitely has some growth to do in the pass rush, but if he can put it together, the team found a solid player in the mid-second round.
