Do the Miami Dolphins have NFL’s best trio of wide receivers? PFN says no.

Miami Dolphins sit behind Houston Texans in wide receiver talent according to Pro Football Network.

The Miami Dolphins have a ton of firepower at the wide receiver position after the recent signing of three-time Pro Bowl pass catcher, Odell Beckham Jr. He joins All-Pro wideout Tyreek Hill and electric, soon-to-be four-year pro Jaylen Waddle in sunny South Florida to make his money on the business end of Tua Tagovailoa dart throws.

Miami’s receiving corps boasts an intimidating level of talent, but are they the top trio in the entire National Football League? While many Dolphins fans would emphatically say yes, Pro Football Network says no!

In a recent ranking of the top-ten wide receiver trios in the NFL, Lorenzo Reyna of PFN has Hill, Waddle and Beckham Jr. ranked as the second best starting receiver unit in the league. He ranks the Houston Texans and their trio of Stefon Diggs, Nico Collins and Tank Dell ahead of Miami’s speedsters.

Here’s what Reyna had to say about the Dolphins’ receivers:

“This feels like three exotic race cars in Miami. Perhaps this is the most star-powered trio in the NFL, with Beckham giving Miami a much-needed receiving threat in addition to their dynamic duo. Tyreek Hill is coming off the most productive season of his career, Jaylen Waddle is one of the best young receivers in the NFL, and while he might be past his prime, Beckham is still one of the more talented WR3s in the league.”

How do you feel about Miami coming in second to Houston in these rankings? If one takes a look at the stats of the Texans’ stars from last year, a case could be made for Miami conceding the top-spot to the talented trio.

In 2023, Nico Collins caught 80 passes, for 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns. Tank Dell, playing in his rookie season, nabbed 47 balls for 709 yards and seven touchdowns. While playing in his final season as a member of the Buffalo Bills, Diggs tallied 107 receptions for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns.

Playing for the Baltimore Ravens in 2023, Odell Beckham Jr. caught 35 passes for 565 yards and three touchdowns. Jaylen Waddle had 72 receptions for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns in Miami, while Tyreek Hill had a monster year — catching 119 passes for 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns — his best season as a pro.

While rankings are fun to look at in the offseason, the only thing that truly matters is how these players perform on the field in an effort to get their teams victories. Funny enough, the Dolphins will travel to Houston in 2024, so we will get to see these two corps do their thing against each other (well, against opposing defensive backs) soon.
