The Seahawks stuck at No. 16 and picked arguably the top defensive tackle in the draft.

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Each week we ask questions of the most plugged-in Seattle Seahawks fans and fans across the country.

It’s a special NFL Draft grade edition of Seahawks Reacts, sponsored by DraftKings Sportsbook. In our survey, fans had the opportunity to grade the Seattle Seahawks’ first-round selection of Texas defensive tackle Byron Murphy II in the quick reaction poll.

What grade would you give the Byron Murphy draft pick? The results are in and nearly 80 percent of 3,000 respondents gave an “A.”

Looks like nearly everyone thinks John Schneider hit a home run! While some (including me) thought Seattle would trade down to acquire more draft picks, the situation changed when 14 consecutive offensive players went off the board to kick off the draft. As a result, the Seahawks highest-graded defensive player was still on the board at No. 16, and they jumped at the opportunity to bolster the middle of Mike Macdonald’s defense.

Seattle will have a long wait until their next pick at No. 81 to see who will join Byron Murphy as part of their 2024 draft class. Field Gulls will keep you posted on all the selections as the Seahawks choose their new crop of rookies.
