The Los Angeles Chargers continue their strong draft with the selection of Justin Eboigbe, defensive lineman from Alabama

With the 105th pick in the NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers select defensive lineman Justin Eboigbe from Alabama.

Eboigbe ranked 152nd on the Consensus Big Board, likely because of his neck injury — one that had to be repaired surgically in 2022. At 6’4” 297 pounds, his NFL position should be an interesting problem to solve — he’s fairly tall for a defensive tackle and fairly heavy for an edge rusher.

True to that evaluation, Eboigbe’s snaps at Alabama were split between strongside edge. head-up against the tight end, snaps head-up on the tackle and every alignment in between, lining up at nose tackle almost as much as he would at three-technique.

He was a late bloomer at Alabama, not registering an impact season until his final year (redshirt senior season) with 11.5 tackles for loss and 7.0 sacks. He finished third in pressures behind first-round pick Dallas Turner and second-round pick Chris Braswell. He figures to improve the run defense more than the pass rush at the next level, but it’s good to have that in his arsenal.
