Arena Breakout: Infinite Gameplay Video Drives Up The Hype

on

Arena Breakout: Infinite is the latest marvel in the extraction shooter space. It comes from MoreFun Studios, a Tencent brand, and it started life as a mobile game that many called a complete clone of Escape from Tarkov. That’s exactly what it looks like, and the developer has wasted no time leaning on those comparisons to drive up impressions on social media. Now, the closed beta has gone live for Arena Breakout: Infinite, a PC port of the popular extraction shooter, and gameplay videos are surfacing online.

At first blush, Arena Breakout: Infinite looks fantastic. It’s easy to see why comparisons have been drawn between this title and Escape from Tarkov. At times, the similarities are shameless, but Escape from Tarkov is the spearhead of the genre, so it’s hard to have no crossovers whatsoever.

Check out the Arena Breakout: Infinite gameplay video below.

Versatile and Very Pretty

In the 13-minute video released by the developer, Arena Breakout: Infinite looks very good indeed. There’s a sumptuous visual display on offer, and everything from weapon customisation to the consumption of survival-based items looks good, well-animated, and authentic. There are a few different maps up for grabs in the closed beta, which is live now, as well as a slew of weapons, equipment, and intuitive mechanics.

While Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore title that doesn’t hold anyone’s hand, Arena Breakout: Infinite looks a little more forgiving. It’s still a die-hard extraction shooter, but it offers more in the way of guided play, with on-screen prompts, tactical menus, and even markers and icons being the order of the day. It’s refreshing – after years of Escape from Tarkov’s crushing difficulty, having something a little easier to play but remaining in that same extraction shooter vein feels wonderful.

Here’s the Arena Breakout: Infinite gameplay trailer:

It’s a wild time for the extraction shooter market right now. Escape from Tarkov is in turmoil following recent controversial changes, and in the last few days, many players have found their way into Gray Zone Warfare. That’s another new extraction shooter, this time coming from MADFINGER Games. It’s a brilliant game that’s in an alpha state, so it’s a little rougher than Arena Breakout: Infinite, but still offers a solid experience.

There are a few extraction shooters on the way, too. Soon enough, Exoborne will enter a beta phase, and somewhere down the line sits Marathon, another extraction shooter that’s rooted in a futuristic environment. If you’re a fan of this genre, you’ll be eating well over the next few years.
