A new Overwatch season is here, full of changes to how the game works. However, it’s not just big alterations for gameplay that’s here. We’ve got a new event going on, the Overwatch Cosmic Crisis event. This is a Moira-focused event that adds some nice character details for them. It’s also a fun co-op mission which will be a nice distraction from all the major meta changes coming from the new season.
How will this new event work? It’s a non-canon event, so it isn’t progressing the story of Overwatch. However, this is the main inclusion for PVE or cooperative content this season. While competitive and Overwatch esports are getting huge changes, these more casual parts of the game are getting attention too. It’s going to have some unique features which make it feel fresh each time you play, with changes coming every week. This is how it works and what you can expect when jumping into the newest mode.

Overwatch Cosmic Crisis Event
The new Cosmic Crisis event is the fresh PVE mode for the season. It sees a few heroes stranded near Evopoint Antarctica. They’ll need to repair their ship to get back out, plus fight off the enemies that are within the area. There are some fun changes to how this works from game to game though. It has some unique aspects which will help keep it interesting over the few weeks it’s active.
One element that will keep things fresh here is co-op objectives. These will change through the game and playthroughs. Mission modifiers will also be changing frequently. Each week will see a change to how the limited mode works, like modifiers getting added. However, the base mission will play similarly week to week otherwise.
Cosmic Collection
As well as a fun new co-op event, the Overwatch Cosmic Collection will be represented in the new Battle Pass. A lot of the content is themed after this event, including the new Moira Mythic skin! These skins are playable in the whole game though. Great if you’re grinding OW Ranked again after the new Ranked Reset that’s taken place with the new season launching.
