Japanese Tekken 8 Team Battle Streamer Event Announced

Tekken 8’s January launch has been exciting so far, but the competitive side of the game is still only just beginning. While major tournaments are further out, we’re already getting plenty of fun events to fill in the gaps. The latest of these is the Tekken 8 Team Battle. This is a Japanese event featuring some of the top Tekken streamers going head-to-head.

On the competitive calendar for this game, the Tekken World Tour is the main event. While we wait for the TWT to open up for its inaugural Tekken 8 year though, we’re getting quite a few exciting events with different formats. The Tekken 8 Team Battle is one of the biggest of these so far, featuring quite a few major names in Tekken. How will the tournament work and what’s the team aspect all about?

Tekken 8 Team Battle

The Tekken 8 Team Battle is a Japanese-focused tournament featuring some of the biggest Twitch streamers. The event is a great example of the in-roads Tekken 8 is making with the title internationally. As a streamer event, it’s similar to the recently concluded Tekken 8 Twitch Rivals tournament. However, it has a different format.

Players will be taking part in teams. These will be divided into two, with players collectively working towards the win! The tournament is taking place on February 28th, where we’ll see each of the teams play on the official stream. As this is a streamer tournament, you can likely catch it on most of the player’s channels.

Who’s Playing in the Tournament?

As a streamer tournament, there are quite a few recognizable names taking part in the Team Battle. One of the more notable are Shaka, a huge Twitch streamer who normally dominates in shooters. He’s been moving more and more into fighting games, and we’ll see him compete on a higher level here. There’s also Doogura, and names familiar to fans from other fighters like Smash and Street Fighter, and even some v-tubers.

The Tekken 8 Team Battle will be a fun chance to see the game played in a bit of a different way. Players who aren’t normally at the top of pro rankings will be showcasing how the game plays at this early stage of its competitive life.
