Dota Birmingham Major Playoffs – TI Champs Eliminated

on

The group stage is all wrapped up and after some twists that no one saw coming, both Team Spirit and Gaimin Gladiators have both been eliminated already. Now, the gates are open for SA, China and MENA to knock European regions off their Dota Major throne.

There are only 2 upper bracket series to play today. Falcons, Tundra, BetBoom and OG will all be playing to hold onto their extra life a day longer.

Four teams have already been eliminated and the top 4 left in the upper bracket are ready to go head to head this afternoon.

Team Falcons vs Tundra Esports

We’re having a hard time predicting the outcome here. Just a few weeks ago, it seemed like Team Falcons were basically Gaimin Gladiators 2.0. They’ve had an incredible start to the year but faltered in Elite League and fell to Xtreme Gaming in the grand finals. Despite topping Group A, Falcons actually only won 1 of their series, drawing all of the rest.

Comparatively, Tundra aren’t exactly off to the best start this year. Having played 2 Tier 1 tournaments this year, they haven’t placed higher than 7th-8th. But at the Dota Birmingham Major, things have turned around. But they’ve fought hard and defeated Spirit, Heroic and Xtreme in the tiebreakers.

Realistically, it could go either way. We’re certainly in for some spectacular Dota though!

BetBoom Team vs OG

To say OG have plot armor at this Dota Birmingham Major would be something of an understatement. After failing to qualify at first, they were allowed a second chance after 1Win weren’t able to secure visas. Now, in true OG form, they’re playing some of the best Dota we’ve seen from them in months with their backs against the wall. It checks out though, Ari is the only British player to play at any stage of the tournament so he basically had to make the main stage.

BetBoom, on the other hand, have already had their share of drama and received a drafting penalty early in the group stage. Again. But that didn’t really slow them down. So far this year, BetBoom have chanelled their inner Team Liquid and placed 2nd at DreamLeague season 22 and 3rd at the BetBoom Dacha. If we just disregard their 11th-12th place finish at Elite League, BetBoom are in for a real chance of coming out on top.
