Split has been temporarily banned in VALORANT

on

In early April, it was announced that Clove wouldn’t be available in competitive play due to a bug. This bug concerned her ultimate, Not Dead Yet. Due to this bug, players could lose his primary weapon after activating the ultimate. It does seem like another bug has been detected in the game, but this time, it concerns a map. The map in question is none other than Split. In this article, let’s look at the Cypher tripwire bug on Split and its immediate effects in VALORANT.

Split has been removed from All VALORANT game modes

Split being removed for all the game modes map pools within VALORANT is shocking. This is one of the few times where VALORANT has taken the call to remove a map entirely due to a bug. Previously, we reported a bug on the map of Bind with Gekko’s Dizzy concerning the trap doors. Bind is currently available in all the map pools; an exploit of this bug was seen recently in a VCT EMEA match.

In a statement on Twitter, VALORANT stated the following:

“Recently, we’ve discovered two different bugs, one with Cypher’s Trapwire, which shows his Trapwires on the minimap of his teammates after he died, and the other an exploit on Split. We will be shipping a fix for both of them in Patch 8.08.”

Due to this map-specific bug, Cypher, as an agent, isn’t banned from playing in the game. Instead, the map of Split has been prohibited and will be back in the map pool following the patch’s going live. Patch 8.08 is said to go live in the coming week in VALORANT.

Another point from the patch notes is that Split will not be available in the Premier game mode. This week’s matches on Premier were meant to take place on Split. Instead, the matches will be played on the map of Ascent. The map will also be removed from the map pick and ban process for the upcoming Premier Playoffs this Sunday. It truly feels that following the silent nerf to Viper detected by the VALORANT community, Riot Games has put an increased effort into communicating about the bugs present in the game.
