He seems to indicate on social media that was the case

Darius Slayton just completed the best season of his five-year career as a wide receiver with the New York Giants.

  • He tied his career-high with 50 receptions.
  • He had a career-high 770 receiving yards.
  • He had a career-best 298 yards after the catch.
  • He reduced his drop rate from 10.3% in 2021 and 9.9% in 2022 to 3.4%, lowest since he dropped just 2.4% of passes thrown to him in his rookie season.

A tweet from Slayton on Wednesday indicated he might have done all that with a hand injury no one outside the team knew about.

As often as Slayton, one of the most accessible Giants, has media surrounding his locker it seems unfathomable that he could have kept anyone from finding out he had a hand injury all season.

Going back through photos of Slayton from the 2023-24 season, he played every game with a sleeve on his right arm extending from his wrist to above his elbow. Could that and the gloves all receiver wear have concealed a small cast to protect an injury? Perhaps.

If he did play through an injury of some type that makes his season even more impressive.
