The show will also move off Memorial Day weekend (and a head-to-head battle with AEW Double or Nothing), along with an episode of Raw that had previously been set to emanate from Savannah, Georgia.

Back in January, WWE announced a slew of spring and summer shows — including an NXT premium live event for Sun., May 26 in Savannah, Georgia.

Last month, a report surfaced that both that show (the 2024 edition of Battleground) and a Raw set for the next night in the same venue would be moving to June and across the country to Las Vegas and the UFC Apex facility there.

Now, WWE confirmed the change via press release:

WWE® & UFC® JOIN FORCES TO BRING NXT BATTLEGROUND TO UFC APEX ON SUNDAY, JUNE 9

STAMFORD, Conn., April 22, 2024 – WWE®, part of TKO Group Holdings (NYSE: TKO), in partnership with UFC® today announced that NXT Battleground will emanate from UFC APEX in Las Vegas on Sunday, June 9. This marks the first-ever WWE event to be hosted at the state-of-the-art, 130,000-square foot event and production facility, which is home to UFC Fight Night events, Dana White’s Contender Series and more.

“We are always exploring new frontiers to showcase NXT and we are excited to bring Battleground to this world-class event and production facility in partnership with UFC,” said WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels.

Limited NXT Battleground Priority Passes will soon be available through exclusive partner On Location, giving fans the chance to be ringside for every exhilarating moment, including premium seating, all-inclusive pre-show hospitality with WWE Superstar appearances, ringside photo opportunities, and much more. UFC Apex is a 1,000 seat venue owned by WWE & UFC’s parent company TKO that was opened in 2019 and was renovated in 2022. The mixed martial arts brand has held numerous cards for ESPN at the Apex since it opened, and during the pandemic ran several PPVs from the Vegas venue.

Now it will host its first WWE shows in one of the biggest signs of TKO synergy we’ve seen yet.

The move off of Memorial Day weekend will also keep NXT from going head-to-head with AEW’s annual Double or Nothing PPV, which happens each year on the Sunday of that three-day U.S. holiday — usually in Las Vegas.
