Who was the best Rams day 3 pick in 2024 and also in past seasons?

The Los Angeles Rams were active as usual on day three of the 2024 NFL Draft, but who do you think was their absolute best pick of Saturday? Drafting kicker Joshua Karty is an obvious standout because of the position and the need, but do you expect Karty to have more value than someone like fifth round edge rusher Brennan Jackson or sixth round defensive tackle Tyler Davis?

To put it another way, because Ethan Evans was all but guaranteed the punter job in 2023, did that make him a better pick than Puka Nacua?

Vote in our poll below, but here’s a refresher of the day three picks:

5.154 – DE Brennan Jackson, Washington State (Write-up here)

6.196 – DT Tyler Davis, Clemson (Write-up here)

6.209 – K Joshua Karty, Stanford (Write-up here)

6.213 – WR Jordan Whittingham, Texas (Write-up here)

6.217 – OL Beaux Limmer, Arkansas (Write-up here)

7.254 – OL KT Leveston, K State (Write up here)

No player other than Karty should be considered a shoo-in to contribute to the team in 2024, regardless of how bad the team may need defensive line help. Consider last season’s dire need at outside linebacker but Michael Hoecht still beat out Nick Hampton for the job. Kyren Williams didn’t take over at running back until year two, will he now face competition from Blake Corum? The team needed a nose tackle when the Rams picked Bobby Brown III in the fourth round but he didn’t become a starter until year three.

However, maybe you do think that Jackson or Davis can be Week 1 contributors anyway. The Rams probably hope not since they picked Braden Fiske in round two and would like him and some of last season’s players to hold off the need for Davis and Jackson. Maybe they won’t and that could be a good thing.

Picking offensive line is always praised, even in the sixth and seventh round, but getting from that late in the draft to a final roster is no easy task.

Karty is the most obvious need for next season and should win the job unless he’s very bad in preseason.
