Watch Bogdan Guskov smash Ryan Spann with furious ground-and-pound knockout

Bogdan Guskov does not mess around on the feet.

After dropping a round to Ryan Spann in the UFC Vegas 91 light heavyweight co-main event Saturday, Guskov exploded with strikes in Round 2 to put Spann down for the count.

Guskov had a rough start to the fight in more ways than one. Spann looked to avoid a standup contest with the powerful Guskov by employing his wrestling and grappling with Guskov against the fence. During one such exchange, Spann landed a low blow, which caused a pause in the action. When the two were reset against the fence, Spann landed a second low blow. No points were taken as a result of the infractions.

Spann eventually took Guskov to the ground, where he attacked with punches and a choke attempt, but Guskov’s defense held up. Round 2 was primarily a striking battle, which was to Guskov’s considerable advantage. He consistently beat Spann to the punch and rocked him badly with an uppercut. With Spann on his back, Guskov rained down heavy punches to force the stoppage at 3:16 of Round 2.

That’s now 14 knockouts in 16 career wins for Guskov, while Spann has now lost three straight fights for the first time in his career.
