With that said, our comprehensive VALORANT guide will walk you through those useful techniques to help you master Clove in the game. Before that, though, if you still haven’t unlocked them, read our complete guide to unlocking Clove in VALORANT.

Meddle (Q Ability) Can’t Penetrate Walls

Clove’s Q ability is a formidable tool that decays the health of all enemies within its radius by 90 HP. At first sight, it might appear capable of penetrating walls due to its visual effects. However, this isn’t the case. Our tests confirm that enemies are safe from decay if they are shielded by a wall, regardless of wall height. The orb must have a direct line of sight to affect targets. Solid objects block the invisible lines emitted from the orb, necessitating strategic placement to ensure maximum impact. Interestingly, this decay effect doesn’t apply to Yoru’s clone or any deployable abilities like Sentry Guns or KJ’s ultimate.

You Can Smoke After Dying

Clove’s E ability might remind you of Brimstone’s smokes, but with a unique twist: you can continue to deploy smokes even after death. This persistence requires you to remain vigilant and proactive throughout each round. Keep in mind that the smoke range is anchored to your body’s location, limiting your reach if you’re spectating a teammate elsewhere on the map. Similar to Brimstone’s smokes, Clove’s last for 15 seconds and can be used to create one-way smokes for tactical advantages.

Self Revive is Finally Here

Clove’s ultimate is a game-changer, offering a chance at redemption upon death. When activated, you have five seconds to secure a kill and revive. Failing to do so will consign you to the afterlife. Notably, killing a Phoenix during his ultimate won’t count as a valid kill for revival purposes. A strategic use of this ultimate allows you to relocate your body to a safer location for a potential Sage resurrection. Additionally, while in ultimate form, you are temporarily immune to certain abilities like Cypher’s tripwires and Sage’s slow orb.

Instantly Gain Extra Health

The C ability is straightforward: eliminate an enemy, press C, and receive healing. Unlike Reyna’s similar skill, you do not need a line of sight to initiate healing. However, if you’re simultaneously affected by decay and healing, decay takes precedence until its effect wears off, after which full healing resumes.

And those are 4 Clove Mechanics in VALORANT you probably didn’t know about. You can now dive straight into the game to play out the newest agent in the game while out maneuvering your opponents.
