It doesn’t sound like the former first round receiver is going anywhere

Brian Callahan said at this press conference this morning that Treylon Burks will have a role on the Tennessee Titans this year. There has been a ton of speculation that Burks would be on the trading block with the reported addition of Tyler Boyd. Based on what Callahan said today, there do not appear to be any immediate plans to trade Burks.

It is important to keep in mind that we as fans need to change the way we think about receivers on this roster. The former regime didn’t see the need to have more than one good receiver on the roster. This group is going to be different. They are going to spend a ton of time in three-receiver sets. That means the room will need to go 5-6 players deep with guys who can actually play because they are bound to have injuries at the position.

Callahan also mentioned that Burks hit a team-high 22.6 MPH in practice on Tuesday. That should alleviate the narrative out there that Burks showed up out of shape.

With all of that being said, we were all very hype about where Burks was last offseason. He was a “sleeper” in pretty much every fantasy football article out there last summer. His season never really got on track after he was injured in the joint practices last August.

For now, it’s ok for us to just wait and see what they get from Burks when the games actually count, but it sounds pretty certain that he will be a part of the roster when the Titans take the field in week 1.
