Harrison Phillips: Vikings will use ‘division of labor’ to carry leadership torch vacated by Kirk Cousins

“There’s gonna be a huge loss,” Phillips said Wednesday on NFL Total Access. “Kirk Cousins as a person, as a leader, as a teammate, that’s a big void in your locker room. One of the most humble guys that I’ve ever been around. Servant leader, just a great motivator. He’s great. To ask one person to fill that void is probably not probable. So what we’re going to do is have a great leadership team, which we’ve already seen. There’s already guys that I’ve seen these last few seasons being on this roster — some are captains, some are not captains yet but will be in their careers — and so we’re going to pass that torch off and kind of division of labor. We’re going to all carry that load together, and maybe we can be a better football team for it.
“Kirk’s obviously amazing. I’ve learned a lot from him and the leadership side of thing, and that’s an area I’m trying to step up and improve my game by working on those abilities.”

Cine and Booth out and the offensive guard situation is, frankly, offensive. Defensive tackle is not far behind. Ugh. Cant fix everything all at once though.

Vikings Add Experienced TD Machine at QB Ahead of Rookie Minicamp

“Another Colonel earning his opportunity!” EKU Football’s social media team posted on X on May 7. “Parker McKinney is headed to Minnesota after receiving an invite to the @Vikings mini camp!”
“One of the top FCS quarterbacks, McKinney had 41 total touchdowns and eight interceptions in 2022 before a slight dip in production last season,” NBC Sports Boston’s Logan Reardon wrote on January 16.
McKinney completed 69% of his passes for 3,956 yards in 2022.
He completed 63% of his passes for 3,033 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions last season, adding another 225 yards and three scores on the ground.
A six-year performer, all spent at EKU, he totaled 12,751 passing yards and 94 touchdowns to 44 picks. He racked up 1,671 yards and 23 scores on the ground in that span, including a career-best 596 yards in 2021.
Listed at 6-foor-3, he has prototypical height. He is also listed at a slight 208 pounds, though.

Longtime former Bengals receiver Tyler Boyd is signing a one-year deal with the Titans, per multiple reports. He was one of the best remaining WRs on the market. Boyd, who had two 1,000-yard seasons earlier in his career, reunites with Titans head coach and former Cincinnati offensive coordinator Brian Callahan. The Vikings reportedly never had any interest.
