Tennessee Titans coaching candidates are rolling in fast and furious. Dan Quinn is the fourth known candidate

The Tennessee Titans have requested an interview with Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn for their head coaching job, according to a report from Tom Pelissero. Quinn is the fifth known candidate following requests for Brian Callahan, Antonio Pierce, Aaron Glenn, and Mike Kafka. The Titans are quickly moving their search for Mike Vrabel’s successor forward.

Quinn has been in demand in recent offseasons. He’s been picky over his next opportunity, knowing it’ll probably be his last. Quinn has rejected multiple advances in recent summers. There’s no guarantee he’ll agree to interview with the Titans.

Quinn spent six seasons as the Atlanta Falcons’ head coach, ushering them to a Super Bowl he lost despite nursing a 28-3 lead. Quinn previously won a Super Bowl as the Seattle Seahawks’ defensive coordinator. Now that Seattle has a job opening, I wouldn’t be surprised if Quinn returned to Seattle as the Seahawks’ head coach.

This year, the Cowboys defense ranks fifth in total yards allowed per contest (299.7), fifth in pass defense (187.4), and fifth in points allowed (18.5). I’d be somewhat surprised if the Titans hired Quinn. He’s a Mike Vrabel-like defensive-minded coaching figure. So far, we’ve seen requests for three defensive minded candidates versus two offensive minded candidates. That needs to change fast.
