Tiger Woods risked of aggravating his injury

On the eve of the first round Tiger Woods and Charlie Woods participated in the pro-am and the Tiger then admitted that he risked deteriorating his physical condition by playing the PNC Championship, but the pleasure of playing with his son was stronger.

Speaking to reporters at the PNC Championship after the pro-am, Woods spoke of how much fun he had playing with his 13-year-old son, Charlie.

Second last year the Woods father and son hope to win this time. The 46-year-old described playing with Charlie at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando on Friday as “magical”.

After a photo alongside Annika Sorenstam and her son Will McGee, the Woods recognized the course and Tiger took the opportunity to film his son to check that his offspring’s swing was in place.

Today the Tiger is battling disabling plantar pain which forced her to withdraw on the eve of the Hero World Challenge earlier this month. But for Woods there is nothing more important than this special family tournament.

Tiger Woods, statements

“Yes it could get worse by deciding to play. But I don’t care (sic). I think being there with and alongside my son is far more important and the chance to have those experiences with him is far greater than the pain in my foot,” Woods said.

During their game on Friday, Charlie was also limping after twisting his ankle, but Woods says he’s fine. “We will be ready for game time tomorrow,” he said.

After announcing that Charlie would start from the number 2 tees, the committee finally reversed its decision and the son will hit his face-offs from the intermediate tees. He will have to travel 5899 meters against the 6176 meters mentioned above.

The departure of the Woods father and son is scheduled for 12:17 p.m. local time (i.e. 6:17 p.m. HF On Golf+). Like last year, they will start alongside Justin Thomas and his father Mike this Saturday.

Regarding the rest of his schedule, Woods was evasive. It is this new foot injury that prevents him from projecting himself.

“If I didn’t have this plantar problem (fasciitis) then yes I might have a better idea of what I’m going to be able to play in 2023. Basically I’m supposed to rest my foot, stretch and let it heal, but I don’t at the moment.”
