Stefanos Tsitsipas fears Rafael Nadal’s experience on clay-courts

During the press conference following the triumph at the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters, Stefanos Tsitsipas also focused on the highly anticipated comeback of the Spanish champion Rafael Nadal, which will take place in a few hours in Barcelona.

The Greek believes that Nadal can return to winning ways by taking advantage of his great experience.

“Regardless of whether he has played little or whether it is his first tournament, we all know what Rafael Nadal is capable of and how quickly he can adapt to one of his favorite surfaces, which is clay.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Rafa reach the final at the Barcelona tournament, because that’s something he’s done over and over again for years and years and years. He has this competitive spirit and this ferocious tennis that sometimes seems to be unstoppable.

On the court things even seem different, because you feel the weight of his ball. I think it’s the ultimate challenge on clay. Now he has even more experience than before and knows the way to win points and prevail in a less expensive way, “analyzed Tsitsipas.

Rafael Nadal comes back to Barcelona

Rafael Nadal will return to the court (in a few hours) at the ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona after the injury suffered in Brisbane last January.

The Spanish champion tried to return first at Indian Wells and then at Monte-Carlo, but the responses given to him by his body during training wisely suggested him not to force the times.

Nadal will test his condition at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, where he will make his debut against Flavio Cobolli next Tuesday.

“I’m happy to be here. Barcelona is a place that has brought me a lot of joy,” said Rafa.
