Football is in mourning. Oshwin Andries (19), young hopeful of Stellenbosch FC in South Africa, died suddenly following several stab wounds on Saturday evening. The defender, who was to celebrate his 20th birthday on February 24, was stabbed to death just hours after his team’s victory against Chippa United (2-1). The Stellenbosch club has confirmed the death of the man who recently wore the South Africa U20 captain’s armband for the CAN qualifiers. “It is with deep sadness that Stellenbosch FC have learned of the untimely passing of promising young defender Oshwin Andries. The Club is unable to provide any further information at this stage and asks that the privacy of his family be respected during this difficult time of bereavement.”explained in particular the press release.
