Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • Former UFC & WWE commentator Jimmy Smith went off on Ronda Rousey on his Unlocking the Cage podcast. Smith said Rousey always wants “all the credit, none of the blame”, pointing out how she never gave credit to the fighters who beat her in the Octagon and instead blames the losses on CTE. He also said that Ronda was so horrible to production people at UFC, “they were cheering when she got knocked out… Those are the people you can be mean to and rude to, and they can’t fight back. Those people couldn’t stand Ronda Rousey.”
  • According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the reason Patrick Mahomes essentially played a heel on Raw is “because WWE did not book this segment. It was a sponsored segment.” That sponsor was Prime, which wanted company founder Logan Paul and spokesperson Mahomes “to work together in an angle”.
  • During his Spaces talk on X yesterday, Triple H said an announcement on the date & location of WrestleMania 41 is coming “very, very soon”. He also said WWE is “open for business” as far as bringing any show or event anywhere “around this globe”.
  • Powerhouse Hobbs is either headed to or has already had surgery for the injury he suffered wrestling Jon Moxley last Wednesday on Dynamite, per Fightful Select.
  • On his YouTube show yesterday, Pat McAfee joined in with those saying Nick Khan isn’t leaving WWE. McAfee went so far as to say that Khan isn’t even selling any of his TKO shares: “after talking to source(s), I can report that’s not true”.
  • On a Fightful podcast, Sean Ross Sapp said that WWE is “very aware” of the criticisms that have been made about in-house music production team Def Rebel’s entrance themes.
  • A trademark was filed recently for Maple Leaf Wrestling. The address listed on the application matches the one former TNA president Scott D’Amore uses for his Border City Wrestling promotion, leading PW Insider and others to speculate it’s related to D’Amore next pro wrestling venture.
