Rick Macci compares Carlos Alcaraz to a cheetah!

on

Rick Macci, historic coach of Venus and Serena Williams, praised some of the best skills of the young Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz. He was impressed by the speed of the winner of the last edition of Wimbledon, so much so that he compared it to that of a cheetah. But beyond that, Macci was also amazed by the ability that Carlitos showed in hiding his shots from his opponents. In a post on X, Macci wrote: “A cheetah can run up to 70 mph. A cheetah has 2000 Spots and uses them as Disguise. One player on tour can run 21 mph and can hit more than 2000 Spots and his drop shot has the ultimate Disguise.”

The last honor received by Carlitos

Alcaraz’s season, more than positive, ended with yet another recognition. In a year as a protagonist, which ended with 66 victories and 12 defeats, the Spanish tennis player won 6 trophies, including Wimbledon. The 20-year-old from Murcia was awarded the 2023 Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award, which recognizes fair play, professionalism and integrity on and off the pitch. The winner is elected based on the votes of their colleagues. Alcaraz beat off competition from Grigor Dimitrov, Hubert Hurkacz and Jannik Sinner, the other players nominated in this category. The Italian triumphed in the category of fans’ favorite tennis player. “I am very happy to have won the Stefan Edberg Award for Sportsmanship. I am particularly happy that it is an award chosen by my colleagues on the circuit. It means a lot to me, so I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart,” explained Carlitos. Alcaraz becomes the fourth Spaniard to receive the prestigious recognition of the ATP Awards, after Jose Higueras (1983), Alex Corretja (1996, 1998) and five-time winner Rafael Nadal (2010, 2018-21).
