Earlier this month, the pro wrestling rumor mill indicated that Mercedes Moné and AEW no longer had working plans together, and a return to WWE as Sasha Banks seemed increasingly likely. Mercedes has even been teasing a return to WWE over the last few days.
It turns out there’s another major swerve in this story tonight. A new report from Fightful Select says Moné and WWE “are no longer in active negotiations regarding a return.” The dialogue between both sides was said to be “friendly,” but ultimately concluded without a deal in place.
What’s more is that a WWE source believes Mercedes will be appearing elsewhere “imminently.” Given that AEW has its Worlds End pay-per-view on Saturday night (Dec. 30), New Japan Pro Wrestling has Wrestle Kingdom 18 scheduled for next week (Jan. 4), and TNA Wrestling is returning in January with Hard to Kill, there are plenty of shows for fans of Mercedes to keep their eyes on in the coming weeks.
