Could Son of Jerry become a Raider?

Among the draft prospects the Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly having a pre-draft visit with USC wide receiver Brenden Rice.

Let’s take a closer look at Rice:

Size:

6-3, 210 pounds.

College highlights:

Rice was a big-play threat for the Trojans. He has 12 touchdowns on 45 catches and averaged 17.6 yards per catch in 2023. He had 111 college catches and 21 touchdowns. He played his first two college seasons at Colorado and he flourish at USC. He left USC with one year of eligibility remaining.

Son of The GOAT:

Rice’s father is Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice, who played for the Oakland Raiders from 2001-04.

Traits:

He’s a big playmaker and he’s a smart physical player who works hard. Still, He’s a bit inconsistent and he needs to improve his footwork according to scouts
How he’d fit in with Raiders:

The Raiders don’t have a glaring need at wide receiver. But they could take one in the mid-rounds if they think the value is there. the visit with Rice shows there is interest.

What’s his draft range?

It’s going to be interesting where Rice gets drafted. This is another deep receiver class and there are several players at the position rated higher than Rice according to many scouts. Still, his big-play potential and his bloodlines will be intriguing to teams. He could go as high as Day 2.
