It’s no fun being a Panthers fan,

It is no fun being a fan of the Carolina Panthers any more. 15 weeks, six years, six head coaches. . . however you count the passage of this current losing streak—which is twice as long as any previous such streak in franchise history—of seasons, it all amounts to the same thing. The joy is gone.

To try to measure that lack of joy, I asked how many of y’all are planning on watching the 2024 season. 2023 is lost, but are you coming back for more David Tepper hires the next season? I hope so, because he’s the owner of the Carolina Panthers and he’s not going anywhere. Or maybe I just hope he’s learned something because I’m not going anywhere.

It turns out a hair over half of you agree with me, to some extent or another. A whopping 58% of Panthers fans think they’ll still watch this team next year. Maybe some of you can’t commit to leaving after all of these years over something so silly as a serial bad coaching and drafting. Maybe some of you hope Tepper learned his lesson. I don’t know.

Fan confidence in the franchise remains hovering around the 4-5% mark after enjoying a brief spike to nine whole percent of fans who were confident in the direction of the franchise after the firing of former head coach Frank Reich. More than for any other reason, I want the Panthers to steal a couple of wins down the stretch just to see how soft that number is.

What I find hilarious is that at least 54% of fans who responded to our survey intend to watch next year even though they are not optimistic that things will have improved. That’s fandom right there.
