Moose has been selected as the former Panthers great who has the honor of announcing the team’s second and third round selections

One of the more endearing events within the NFL Draft is the League’s use of former team greats to announce certain picks on day two. The tradition continues this year, and Muhsin Muhammad has been tabbed as the Panthers Legend to make the trip to Detroit. Originally scheduled to announce the 33rd overall pick, Muhammad will likely announce pick 39 to go along with pick 65 (assuming the Panthers do not trade those picks as well). Muhammad played for the Panthers from 1996 to 2004, then again from 2008 to 2009 after a stint with the Chicago Bears. Muhammad to this day still owns the Panthers record for touchdown receptions in a single season with 16 as well as the NFL record for longest reception in the Super Bowl (the 85-yard touchdown against the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVIII).

Muhammad is just the latest in quite the parade of Panthers greats to join the NFL Draft experience. Previous participants include Jonathan Stewart and Kemp Rasmussen in 2023, Thomas Davis in 2022, Charles Johnson in 2019, and Jordan Gross and Jason Baker in 2018.

After jumping into the first round for Xavier Legette, the Panthers will likely have a really talented option available at 39 for Muhammad to announce. Hopefully this Panthers legend and fan favorite announces a future Panthers legend and fan favorite.
