The Ohio State University men’s tennis team got another doubleheader. The Buckeyes defeated Northern Kentucky 4-0 in the morning game, and then beat Toledo 7-0 in the evening game.
The Buckeyes will host the ITA Kickoff Weekend, tomorrow (Saturday, January 27) and Sunday. They will face Vanderbilt at 10 a.m. Saturday morning and then Oregon Boise State at 1 p.m. The championship game is scheduled for Sunday at noon. The weekend winner will qualify for the ITA Indoor Team National Championship February 16-19 in New York.
The Buckeyes earned the top spot in the rankings when the latest ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings were announced. Jack Anthrop and Cannon Kingsley both went 4-0 that day. Anthrop lost just three games in its four singles sets. Kingsley had the only win over a ranked opponent, beating No. 68 Pawit Sornlaksup of Toledo in three sets.

Against NKU, the teams elected to play all three doubles matches to completion and the Buckeyes won in all three, losing only three matches total. In singles, Ohio State got back-to-back wins from Cannon Kingsley (6-0, 6-2), Jack Anthrop (6-1, 6-0) and JJ Tracy (6-2, 6-1) taking 4 -0 victory. The Buckeyes also led in the other three games.
In the game against Toledo, the Buckeyes scored double points by winning 6-0 on court two and 6-1 on court three. After five consecutive singles victories, Kingsley and Sornlaksup faced each other in the match of the day. Kinglsey won the opening set 6-1 and Sornlaksup won the second set 7-5. In the super-breaker, Kingsley managed to outlast Sornlaksup 11–9 to remain undefeated on the year.
