During the inaugural edition of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in South Africa, India’s Yuvraj Singh etched his name into cricketing folklore by hitting six sixes in a single over. This remarkable feat occurred in a match against England at Kingsmead, Durban, a game that remains one of the most memorable moments in T20 cricket history.

When Yuvraj Singh hit six sixes in an over

The over in question was bowled by Stuart Broad, the English fast bowler. The context of this extraordinary assault was a heated exchange Yuvraj had just moments earlier with all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, which seemed to have fired him up. Coming into the 19th over, Yuvraj was determined and visibly charged.

The first ball of Broad’s over was a full toss, which Yuvraj dispatched over midwicket for six. The second, a length ball, went over backward square leg. The third, another full toss, was hit over wide long-off. The crowd was electrified as Yuvraj hit the fourth ball, a length delivery, over deep point. The fifth, another length ball, sailed over midwicket. With anticipation reaching a fever pitch, Yuvraj hit the sixth and final ball of the over deep into the stands at midwicket, completing an unprecedented sequence of six sixes in an over.

This spectacular performance helped Yuvraj reach his half-century in just 12 balls, the fastest in T20 international cricket at the time.

Yuvraj Singh’s bold prediction for T20 World Cup 2024

Legendary cricketer Yuvraj Singh recently surprised fans and experts of the game with his prediction for the upcoming T20 World Cup. When asked who could match his record-breaking feat of hitting six sixes in a single over during the 2007 tournament, Yuvraj didn’t name the likes of power-hitters Will Jacks or Andre Russell.

Instead, Yuvraj turned heads by placing his bet on Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya. “Hardik Pandya is likely to hit 6 sixes in one over in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024,” stated Yuvraj in an interview to the ICC.

This is an unexpected choice considering Pandya’s recent form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, where he has scored just 197 runs in 9 matches at a dreadful average of 29.83.

However, Yuvraj’s faith in Hardik has sparked a wave of discussion among cricket fans. With the T20 World Cup set to be held in the batting-friendly West Indies and USA, could one see a new chapter written in the history books? Only time will tell if Pandya can live up to Yuvraj’s expectations.
