During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 showdown between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Ruturaj Gaikwad‘s stellar batting and Tushar Deshpande‘s fiery bowling stole the limelight.

Matheesha Pathirana also shone with the ball, claiming two crucial wickets in his two-over spell. His dismissal of Heinrich Klaassen prompted a lively reaction from a CSK fan directed at SRH captain Pat Cummins.

In the 16th over, Pathirana delivered a low full toss targeting the middle stump. Klaasen attempted to drive it down the ground but lacked the required elevation and power, resulting in a straight shot to Daryl Mitchell at long-on. Following this dismissal, a passionate fan directed a reaction towards Cummins.

Chennai Super Kings topples Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chepauk

After being put in to bat first, CSK posted an imposing total of 212/3 in their allotted 20 overs, propelled by a stellar 98 off 54 deliveries from captain Ruturaj, who maintained a scorching strike rate of 182, comprising 10 fours and 3 sixes. Mitchell contributed with a fiery 52 off 37 balls. However, T Natarajan’s three-wicket haul was overshadowed by his expensive spell, conceding 43 runs in four overs.

In response, SRH suffered an early setback, losing three wickets for just 40 runs in four overs. Despite Aiden Markram and Nitish Reddy‘s efforts to revive SRH’s innings, they fell short. CSK bundled out SRH for a mere 134 runs, securing a commanding 78-run victory. Deshpande claimed three wickets in four overs, while Mustafizur Rahman bagged two wickets, conceding only 19 runs in three overs. Ruturaj was awarded the Player of the Match for his sensational batting display.
